We Love Trains!

My father grew up loving trains. He always had HO trains around and would set them up when possible. Later on he built a large scale layout in our house with several other model lovers. This layout was quite large and used one of the first engine sound systems available (1980’s). I was given my first Lionel in 1972, a freight train set that would follow along with me for many decades. As a child we traveled by train a lot. The Bullet trains in Japan, the Super Chief, the Auto Train and far too many excursion trains to mention. My father eventually ended up building a very large scale 027 layout in his home in Issaquah. When he sold the house they were able to extract the layout which donated to and is now on display in the Northwest Railway Museum.

My son has great interest in trains as well. He does Z, N, HO, and 027. We all recently went on a journey together to ride the The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, with stops at the Forney Museum of Transportation, and the Colorado Railroad Museum.

Which brings me to the purpose behind Clumber Mountain. Clumber Mountain Railway is my dream project, you see while my son and father chose smaller gauges, I have always been drawn to the large gauges. In order to properly enjoy these large locomotives you need a bunch of space, and outdoors we have a lot of that. I want to build my dream garden railway and I figured a great way to do it would be to buy and sell G and 1 Gauge trains. Spreading the hobby and meeting people will be a great part of this adventure as well. The objective is fair prices, treat people right, package items carefully, and repair what you can. It also is a great reason to hang out with my grown son.

We are located near Dallas, Oregon in the Willamette Valley.
